Let God Work On You (Correction part 4)

Psa 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

God has a great way of teaching us what He wants us to learn.  A lot of the time we need to run to Him and ask.  He says in this verse that we need to listen to and hear Him.  A lot of the time our kids listen but don't hear.  It is a two part process.  I tell my kids to listen and obey.  To obey, we need to hear.

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.  And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. Mat 4:18-20

The Lord called these men to do something outside their comfort zone. (Being corrected is not comfortable. It is not easy. It is hard work.) They had to give up something that was so a part of who they were. (Sometimes we allow our character flaws to define us as a person when in reality it is just something we should be willing to let go of.)

This was their livelihood. They were called by God to change… To do something different… And they did. They left their nets (this is like us leaving behind the things God is trying to get us to let go of, our hate, our bossiness, our selfishness, our sin) And followed Him. (We need to follow Him to become what He has designed us to become).

God’s correction is for our well-being. He does it because He loves us and cares for us. He wants to help us be the best we can be. Correction is not comfortable, it is not easy, it is not fun, but it is amazing what God can do through us when we yield to His teaching and His correction.

A few things God has taught me through correction the last few weeks…
Control my temper
Have the right attitude towards and for my husband and his ministries.
