I wanted to share my Thanksgiving recipes with all of you because they turned out AMAZING!  I loved it all.
I found this recipe on this website: Six Sister's Stuff

Slow Cooker Stuffing Recipe:

Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 large onion, chopped
2 cups chopped celery
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 1/2 cups sliced mushrooms
2 (10 ounce) boxes Mrs. Cubbison's Herb Seasoned Cube Stuffing
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 cups chicken broth
2 eggs, beaten

Directions:
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.  Cook onion, celery, mushrooms and parsley in butter, stirring frequently.  Pour bread cubes into a large mixing bowl and pour butter and vegetables on top and combine.  Season with poultry seasoning, salt and pepper.  Pour enough broth to moisten the bread cubes and mix in beaten eggs.  Transfer mixture to slow cooker and cover.  Cook on high for 45 minutes, then reduce heat to low and cook for 4 to 8 hours.  Check occasionally to make sure the sides don't burn.

Let God Work On You (Correction part 4)

Psa 34:11 Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

God has a great way of teaching us what He wants us to learn.  A lot of the time we need to run to Him and ask.  He says in this verse that we need to listen to and hear Him.  A lot of the time our kids listen but don't hear.  It is a two part process.  I tell my kids to listen and obey.  To obey, we need to hear.

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.  And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.  And they straightway left their nets, and followed him. Mat 4:18-20

The Lord called these men to do something outside their comfort zone. (Being corrected is not comfortable. It is not easy. It is hard work.) They had to give up something that was so a part of who they were. (Sometimes we allow our character flaws to define us as a person when in reality it is just something we should be willing to let go of.)

This was their livelihood. They were called by God to change… To do something different… And they did. They left their nets (this is like us leaving behind the things God is trying to get us to let go of, our hate, our bossiness, our selfishness, our sin) And followed Him. (We need to follow Him to become what He has designed us to become).

God’s correction is for our well-being. He does it because He loves us and cares for us. He wants to help us be the best we can be. Correction is not comfortable, it is not easy, it is not fun, but it is amazing what God can do through us when we yield to His teaching and His correction.

A few things God has taught me through correction the last few weeks…
Control my temper
Have the right attitude towards and for my husband and his ministries.

Let God Work On You! (Correction part 3)

So, how does God correct us?   Through His word, Through the Holy Spirit, Through our Husbands, Through our Friends…

Pro 27:17  Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in
faith, in charity, in patience.  The aged women likewise, that
they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false
accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Tit 2:1-5

I look at these verses and think that it is the job of someone that loves you to correct you. It takes a special person to be able to lovingly correct.  We should all have those people that we trust and can go to for correction.  I am a very open person. I do not have a problem sharing details of my life to someone that will give me their honest opinion/advice.

Open rebuke is better than secret love.  Faithful are the
wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul
every bitter thing is sweet. Pro 27:5-7

God says a true friend will tell you when you are wrong and when you need to fix some things in your life.  Another thought I had when I read these verses was that God wants us to be open and willing to be corrected.  If you think you are above every other person and do not need to work on anything you are like the full soul that loatheth the honeycomb.  If you are open to the correction, even though it is bitter at times, you will be able to handle it and it will be sweet to your soul.

Let God Work On You! (Correction part 2)

Pro 3:11  My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction

Why are we afraid of being corrected? Why do we hate it?
God tells us here that we aren’t supposed to despise it, But we do.  No woman likes to be told she is wrong, she needs to back off, she needs to shut her mouth… But that is exactly what we need to hear sometimes.

de·spise
[dih-spahyz] Show IPA
verb (used with object), de·spised, de·spis·ing.
to regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain; scorn; loathe.
wea·ry
[weer-ee] Show IPA adjective, wea·ri·er, wea·ri·est, verb, wea·ried, wea·ry·ing.
adjective
1. physically or mentally exhausted by hard work, exertion, strain, etc.; fatigued; tired: weary eyes; a weary brain.
2. characterized by or causing fatigue: a weary journey.
3. impatient or dissatisfied with something (often followed by of  ): weary of excuses.
4. characterized by or causing impatience or dissatisfaction; tedious; irksome: a weary wait.

These are pretty strong words.  God put this verse in the Bible for a reason.  He knows how we are.  He knows we are sinful, selfish, and downright stubborn.

Our opinions, our wants, our needs come before anything else at times. And most times, we need to be corrected on that.  We should take that correction and know that God is perfecting us. He is showing us His love.  As a parent, what would it say to my children if I never corrected them or myself.  I would be showing them that they could do whatever they want whenever they felt like doing it and however they see fit. Would I be happy? Would they be happy and feel like I loved them.

I feel the most love from someone that is willing to correct me.  Isn’t that weird? That I would feel closer, more loved, and more respected by someone that would tell me the truth?

Let God Work On You! (Correction part 1)

2Ti 3:16  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17  That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

God likes to work on us. He loves us and wants us to be used more effectively by Him.  He gave us His word to help us on this journey through life.  These verses point out to us that we are going to be corrected and worked on by God.  He did not give us His word just so we could read it and not do anything about it. Sometimes God works on us slowly, and other times we either need to learn it quick or we may have to go through “it” all over again. Whatever that “it” is, you can fill in the blank.
A lot of the time for me, it is embarrassment. I get embarrassed really easily. I am what people would call a “loud” person. I have a “strong” personality.  And usually when I do not take the correction and change my behavior, I will get to go through that embarrassment all over again. Most of the time what I say and do, do not come across the way I intend it to. At those times, I should have just stayed silent.
I will also feel guilty for weeks after too…

Correction...

Over the next few posts, I am going to be doing a lesson on Correction.  I had the privilege to do a devotional for my churches monthly ladies Bible study.  I have been going through a time of correction lately and really took this lesson as a way to show others what God's intent is when He decides we need some correcting.

First I would like to point out that God loves you very much.  His correction is not to punish but to help us be the most we can be for Him.  And since Jesus is my Saviour and He gave his all for me, I believe that I can give my all in every area of my life.  I am a sinner and because of that I know there are things in my life, in my personality, and in character that do not bring glory to God.  That means I need to correct them.

Correction is not a bad thing.  When God corrects us, He is saying that we are worth His time and His energy.

I hope you are encouraged and your perspective of correction would be more possitive than negative.
